From the New York Times: "The nation's system for approving and monitoring the safety of medicines is inadequate and needs far-reaching reforms, and the Food and Drug Administration is plagued with poor management and persistent internal squabbling, according to a long-anticipated study of the agency."
The report, "The Future of Drug Safety: Promoting and Protecting the Health of the Public," was issued today by the Institute of Medicine. You can read the full book online on the National Academies Press website.
