From the New York Times: "President Bush announced an agreement with the mortgage industry today to freeze interest rates for up to five years for some of the two million homeowners who bought houses recently with subprime loans."
The transcript of the President's statement on the mortgage industry agreement is available on the White House website. The site includes a fact sheet on the agreement and other information on homeownership.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has more information on the agreement, including details of the FHASecure plan. The Federal Housing Administration (part of HUD) site includes more information on mortgages and refinancing.
