From Senator Burns' press release: "U.S. Senators Conrad Burns (R-MT) and Max Baucus (D-MT), incensed by recent legislation that would delay implementing a comprehensive Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) law, held a press conference today to introduce further legislation that will restore the deadline of September 30, 2006. Both Senators will make their comments from the press conference available today by satellite feed."
The Senators introduced S. 2038, "A bill to amend the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 to restore the original deadline for mandatory country of origin," yesterday. The bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.
