Congress Overrides Medicare Veto

From the Missoulian: "Congress quickly overrode President Bush's veto Tuesday of a major Medicare bill, enacting into law a measure that stops a 10 percent cut in payments to physicians treating Medicare patients."

The House of Representatives overrode the veto on H.R. 6331, the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008, with roll call vote 491. The Senate overrode the veto with roll call vote 177.

The President's veto message is posted on the White House website. All members of Montana's delegation to Congress voted to override the veto. Senator Baucus and Congressman Rehberg issued statements on the vote against the veto.
