Military Commissions Act of 2006

From the Washington Post: "A Senate committee rebuffed the personal entreaties of President Bush yesterday, rejecting his proposed strategies for interrogating and trying enemy combatants and approving alternative legislation that he has strenuously opposed."

Senate Bill 3901, "The Military Commissions Act of 2006," passed the Senate Armed Services Committee yesterday. The text of the bill (and details on the bill's status) are available on THOMAS.

The White House response can be seen in the September 14, 2006, press conference with Tony Snow, White House Press Secretary, and in today's press conference with the President.
