From the Washington Post: "Senior executives from major oil companies underwent a grilling yesterday at a Senate hearing, where lawmakers from both parties blamed mergers for boosting energy prices and threatened to press ahead with legislation aimed at stiffening the antitrust rules governing the industry."
The "Consolidation in the Oil and Gas Industry: Raising Prices?" hearing was held by the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday. Witness testimony is available online, and the transcript will be printed in several months.
The earlier hearing, on November 9, 2005, was held by the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. Witness statements in the "Energy Pricing & Profits" hearing are on the committee website.
