From the Missoulian: "Montana's senators oppose a federal initiative to raise electricity rates for the state's consumers of Bonneville Power Administration electricity by nearly $100 million over the next 10 years.
"The rate increase is part of the president's proposed budget for fiscal year 2007. If carried through, the increases would go into effect in 2008 and 2009."
Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) is referenced in the Department of Energy section, the appendix, and the analytical perspectives of the proposed federal budget. Yesterday, the Secretary of Energy discussed changes to BPA in an addresss to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
BPA has also issued a press release about sending surplus funds to the Department of the Treasury (rather than using the funds to reduce rates).
